People & Lifestyle

Red Mountain has been described by Forbes as an address book that reads like a Davos VIP list. Residents include billionaire business leaders, venture capitalists, hedge fund managers, real estate developers, and CEOs. The parents of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos own property on Red Mountain, as do the parents of Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell. These prominent residents are attracted to Red Mountain because of its exquisite homes, impeccable privacy, and incomparable views. Homes here overlook Aspen, Castle Creek, Maroon Creek, and the iconic twin peaks of the Maroon Bells. Red Mountain’s magnificent vantage point over Aspen’s stunning scenery has made it the first choice for photographers seeking to capture this special locale in all its glory. Homes are surrounded by tranquil meadows and trails offering exceptional hikes and some of the best mountain biking in the country.

Stunning Views and Tranquil Trails

This exclusive area is close to all four ski areas of the Aspen Snowmass. Most homes are also within a three to ten minutes drive of the world-class shopping and dining in Aspen’s downtown core. Red Mountain’s breathtaking views are the best in Aspen, and most postcard shots of the town and Aspen Snowmass ski resorts are taken from vantage points within this community.

Red Mountain’s grand homes are surrounded by some of the nation’s best hiking and mountain biking trails. Hunter Creek Trail winds through the woodlands running along and over Hunter Creek. Take the trail in June and early July to see wildflowers blossoming alongside it. This scenic trail has several bridges crossing the creek and awe-inspiring unobstructed views of Aspen Mountain. Hunter Creek Trail is mostly flat close to Aspen Central Core but eventually ascends through a 1,000-foot change in elevation. Those who persevere through its rocky final stretch will be rewarded with stunning views over Aspen and Smuggler’s Mountain. The 10.8-mile Sunnyside Trail moves through an almost 2,400-foot change in elevation as it zig-zags up Red Mountain. Like Hunter Creek Trail, Sunnyside Trail is filled with beautiful wildflowers during the summer. At the summit, Red Mountain has spectacular panoramic views over Independence Pass and all four mountains of the Aspen Snowmass. Other easily accessible outdoor activities include fly-fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, camping, and kayaking.
